Eligibility (Qualifying in IMUCET as well as TMISAT is mandatory for admission)

Age
  • Male candidates born on or after 1st September 1999 are eligible to apply for the 2020 batch. In accordance with Government of India guidelines, there is a two year age relaxation for female candidates and girls born on or after 1st September 1997 are eligible to apply for the 2020 batch.
  • Minimum age of a candidate shall be 17 years.
Gender
  • TMI encourages the participation of both genders without discrimination.
Marital Status
  • Only unmarried candidates will be considered.
Academic QualificationsYou must have successfully completed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with:
  • At least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (P C M), and
  • At least 50% marks in English either in Class X or Class XII
Physical Fitness
  • The Institute has laid down detailed minimum physical fitness and medical standards. The candidate has to meet these standards to qualify for admission. You are advised to have yourself medically examined by competent doctors before applying. This will ensure that you meet the minimum requirements, which in turn will avoid disappointment at a later stage.

Scholarship
  • To attract the very best talent and promote sustained achievement, TMI awards generous merit based scholarships.
  • For each Marine Engineering on-campus semester, about 17.5% of the top ranking students from each class are awarded scholarships amounting to an aggregate of approx. Rs. 46 Lac per year.

About Us

Tolani Maritime Institute is one of the largest maritime educational centers offering MARINE ENGINEERING and NAUTICAL SCIENCE degree programs. These degree programs at TMI have been awarded Grade A1 (Outstanding) by ClassNK in the Comprehensive Inspection Programme of DG Shipping. The programmes are also awarded SME Grade 1 (Outstanding) by CRISIL . The assigned grade reflects TMI’s excellent placement track record, qualified and experienced faculty, industry leading infrastructure, strong financial standing and professional & committed promoters.

The Tolani Group, which has a long tradition of establishing and managing institutions of higher learning, was preparing during 1995-1997 to found a new campus-based institute that would mature into a university. As the Tolani Group's primary business is ship owning and ship management, it was acutely aware of the need for India to produce increasing numbers of well educated marine officers. Hence it was decided in late 1997 that the group's new educational initiative should take the form of a modern, purpose built maritime institute.

The first degree program students were accepted in August 1998 and accommodated in temporary facilities until the new 100 acre campus was made operational in late 2000.
